RCH Project
Reproductive child health program is implementing in Kuttichal Grama Panchayat especially under served and unserved areas. Priority area is Mother & Children and adolescent-funded by NRHM under MotherNGO scheme.
Medicinal plant
Awareness on Herbal plants and its medicinal value among Kudumbasree and SHG members, Model nursery, sticker presentation and documentation of age old Ayurvedic practices of tribals.
Roof Water Harvesting
Construction of Roof Water Harvesting tanks to solve the problem of drinking water in the interior pockets of Grama Panchayat of Trivandrum district supported by CAPART.
Micro Economic Training Programme
IRD imparting various entrepreneurship development program for the unemployed candidates. Various entrepreneur skill development training are imparted to the rural people to help them initiating viable productive ventures for income generation purpose.
Micro Finance
The ultimate aim of this program is economic empowerment of its members by providing soft Loans in time for initiating income generation and other activities. It places the marginalized and the poor people in the main stream of life.
Environmental Program
IRD regularly implementing environmental programs like NEAC, Bio-diversity and sold waste management programs supported by Ministry of Environment and Forest.
Residential Camp
IRD mainly focus on adolescent – their mental, Physical Life skill, Personality and leadership development Programs supported by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India.
Baby Creche
IRD runs 5 baby creche in tribal and rural areas giving supplementary nutritional food, supported by KSSWB-Govt. of India.
Tribal Development Programs
IRD is the accredited NGO by the Tribal Development Department and implementing participatory income generation programme.
Micro-Insurance
IRD is recognized by LIC of India for micro-Insurance programmes and Insurance to BBL families under this scheme.
RIVER MAPPING, SAND AUDITING & DIGITALIZATION:
IRD was the empanelled agency of ILDM. We were given adequate training during 2014 and allotted Kuttiyadi River to do river mapping. We recruited geographers, geologists to undertake the work. As a result of this we successfully completed river Kuttiyadi and submitted to District Collector Kozhikodu. This year again we were empanelled by them and adequate training given to us. After the training at 3 ILDM and field expos in Karamana River helped our staff to execute the work. Accordingly Kuppom river. The trained geographers and geologist we trained started the work under the leadership of our project manager. The kuppom do have the length of 58 km which flows through various gramapanchayath. The necessary credential maps were collected from the district survey office and directorate of survey dept. Thiruvanathapuram for executing the work. Accordingly the work was begun and nearing completion of river mapping . yet we have to finish Sand auditing and digitalization of Kuppom river. A happy thing happened in this juncture is the second allotment of sand auditing of river Kuttiyadi. Because according to govt. source every 3 year sand auditing must be completed. This assignment will be done before December 2018.
PROJECT FROM KSCSTE :
We are implementing various programmes supported by Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment. This year we have submitted a project proposal on Science Popularisation to KSCSTE. The expert committee called us for a presentation during the last week of February. We presented it and the judges were convinced and approved the project. After words we had a dialogue with city corporation counselors at Barton Hill Anganwadi, Kunnukuzhi. There repesentativesfrom17 RA were attended which was chaired by the BINU IP the Counsellor of Kunnukuzhi ward. We had a presentation there and the RA was motivated by us about the Science Popularization project. This project will be permanently solve two grave issues like waste management and poisoned vegetables coming from outside. The project aims in achieving sustainability of organic vegetables and disposal of waste in emergence itself.
TECHNOLOGY DAY OBSERVANCE:
THIS year we received sanction on Technology Day from KSCSTE. Soon after we had advocacy meeting with the Moonnukallinmoodu Residents Association, Neyyattinkara. We had a general discussion with the office bearers of residents programme in connection with the Annual meeting and gathering of Munnukallinmoodu Residents Association. We were given two hours time in the Annual meeting and Sri. Balachandran chairman, IRD and Smt. Girija Devi, Secretary, Ragi Vanitha Samajam took different sessions. From 1947 onwards majority of the scientific advancement took place in technology was discussed and the retired people asked number of question about the starup programme of govt. of India and different programs related to making in India. It is a general conclusion that they wanted to start some programmes which will given employment generation to the members of the residents association. The office bearers of the residents association agreed to hand over the shed where the meeting was generally took place. It was a good programme and we believe that it really met the target people.
DPR preparation :
IRD was empanelled by LSGD. The aim of the project is improve the infrastructural and lively hood capacity of the hundred underdeveloped gramapanchayath in Kerala for which we were given 5 days training in Kila and in Trivandrum respectively to repair DPR worth of 2 crores in each panchayath. IRD recruited 3 engineers 3 MSW post graduates and 3 geography graduates for the programme. Our team worked effectively and completed the project preparation; with in 4 months of time. We have conducted need assessment study grama sabha meeting tribal village meeting, meeting with different govt. dept. executives and prepared the projects. This was a standardized project with genuinity and reality. Our organization is also helped to get it project in DPC. We are very happy that we have submitted original DPR with the ratification of district planning board and submitted for the implementation of the program. We are very happy that due to the training given by the govt. we could able to complete it with in the period for the World Bank approval project. In this connection work rendered by our core team is very admirable. We have prepared Monroethuruthu in Kollom dist. The gramapanchayath ruling front and opposition co operated very much for the successful completion of the project.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE :
WE are running a service providing centre for domestic violence victims at Amboori supported by Kerala State Social Welfare Board. A low graduate and an MSW post graduates are working as legal and family councilor. we deals with dowry cases alcoholic cases and mother in law, bride and bride groom issues. Last year we have delt with 11 tribal women cases and more than 46 other cases in the gramapanchayath like Amboori, Kallikadu, Kuttichal, Poovchal, Ottasekharamangalam, Aryancode and Vellarada. Our legal counselor is also working as a leader of Jagratha Samithi and solve different issues in the domestic field. We are conducting counseling service and legal assistance to the domestic violence victims. We use to submit DPR to court where the counseling faces. We are maintaining one office at Amboori and legal counselor is attending every 3 days in a week. Family Counselor attends every Saturday in a week. He also conducts counseling services to adolescent in connection with different churches. We are maintaining an Ezhuthupetty to deposit issues and problems phased by the adolescent group.
SOCIAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT STUDY:
IRD was empanelled by District Collector Trivandrum to conduct social impact assessment study in connection with Land Acquisition for the development of roads, bridges and development purpose govt. used to acquire land in order to acquire land different organizations were selected to undertake SIA study we are very produce to say that we given 5project including light metro, drinking water, over bridge etc. to undertake SIA study our experts already been started survey and other preliminary step. A team of official were recruited and entrusted the work which will be completed within 3 months time. The quotated amount will be given as a fees to undertake the study.
WORLD AIDS DAY :
Every year we use to observe World Aids Day in December 1st. this year KSAC organized a meeting for to discuss how best programmes can be implemented in which they have come to a conclusion to organize awareness programme at Railway Station, Trivandrum and a State level inauguration at VJT Hall and an exhibition at railway station Thambanoor, we have organized an awareness campaign which was inaugurated by Smt. R. NIsanthini IPS. Felicitations were showered by Dr. P.P. Priya District Medical Officer Sri. Kaveesher Krishnan Kutty Team leader TSU. Dr. Mary Mathew CMS, Trivandrum Sri. S. Pushparajan Dist. Mass Media Trivandrum Sri. C. Balachandran Chairman IRD Smt. Reshmi Madhavan Joint Director KSAC. Dr. Sandhya Krishnan Programmer officer etc. attended. This programme was organized by us in materials to the public through this programme.
URJAKIRAN (CED/ EMC )
We have organized an awareness programme called Urjakiran at Kunnathukal gramapanchayath auditorium. all the ICDS teachers and workers in Parassala constituency attended the programme. More than 200 people attended and handbook on Urjakiran was distributed to them. In this class water the steps to be taken to control electricity and to reduce our electricity bill. The faculty stressed the use of Star labeled electrical implements which were more economic and good in quality. We have organized a rally to boost up Urja Samrakshana dinam at Dhanuvachapuram English Medium School. The programme was very colourful and the students took a vow and they will preserve electricity for the future generation. The principal and teachers of the school cooperated very much for the programme. In this connection IRD pays gratitude of the organization for the co operation rendered by the school authorities.
SUREKSHA :
IRD implementing PSH Projects since 2006 and covering the micro site areas of Thiruvananthapuram, Corporation, Varkala Municipality, Attingal Municipality, Nedumangadu Municipality and Kadinamkulam Panchayath. In the previous year the project could 1078 MSMs. Out of this 632 Kothis, and 446 double duckers. We could contact and cover all the identified from different project sits. This phase onwards, based on the instruction from KSACs we extended our project implementation to 4 sites ie, Neyyattinkara, Vizhinjam, Pallichal and Kovalam. Now the population size is 1000. Now the project completed 11 years with MSM group and achieved most of the targets proposed in the year. Project has one main office with DIC in Trivandrum Corporation. The project identify 1078 estimated MSMs from different project site among 1078, 778 are Kothis and 322 are double duckers. Among the 1078 population 30% comes under high risk behavior. Vulnerable population 45%, 25% is low risk. The project focus on outreach and communication STI identification and management, HIV testing, behavior change counseling, condom programming and community mobilization. Last year we identify 8 classical sexually transmitted infections.
